He may be more used to headlining festival bills, but if you’re planning to catch Snoop Dogg at this weekend’s Mutiny Festival, you’d better be there early.

Luke Betts, the festival’s organiser, says: ‘The gates open at 11am, and the first act is on at 12.30pm, then we’re having a carnival at 2pm which is kind of the official launch for the weekend, and part of that will be Snoop Dogg appearing live with his band.

‘He’ll be doing all the classics. His new album is entirely produced by Pharrell Williams and I think it will suit that time of day well. We’re really excited to have him here.’

The festival takes place at Fontwell Park near Chichester tomorrow and Sunday, and will feature big names from the world of dance and urban music such as Knife Party, Katy B, Rebel Sound, Gorgon City and many more.

‘The camping tickets are all sold out now,’ says Luke, ‘but we’re keeping a few tickets back, so people can buy them on the day.

‘We’re expecting 15,000 people through the doors on Saturday, and we’re hoping to get close to that on Sunday.

‘Saturday is going to be a monster, especially if the weather holds and that’s looking good at the moment.

‘We have secured the best acts we can. We want to close the shows with high energy acts, and Knife Party have proved internationally that they can do that – with the amount of pyrotechnics their truck brought in yesterday, we will definitely go out with a bang.’

And Luke’s top tip for the weekend?

‘I wouldn’t say I’ve got a favourite act on the bill, but there’s a huge buzz for DJ EZ on Sunday. This is a guy who’s been on the scene for years and years and he’s probably the most technically gifted DJ on the face of the earth. He’s just crazy.’

Tickets are from £45 for Saturday, £35 for Sunday and £65 for the weekend. Go to mutinyfestivals.co.uk
