For weeks the votes have been pouring in, with post arriving every day and hundreds of readers going online – so now we can reveal the shortlist.
Each of the 13 categories for the Guide Awards now have six shortlisted nominees who are all in the running to win.
Now the top acts will be deliberated over by our expert judging panel, taking into consideration the results of our public poll.
On Monday, January 20, in association with the Kings Theatre at Southsea and Wave 105, the awards show will celebrate the best local talent in music, stage, comedy, film, art and food and drink.
It’s the night we honour the best in local entertainment, from bands to artists and actors to films.
The night will not only include the presentation of trophies to all the winners, but also our Special Achievement Award will also be presented.
The exciting evening will also feature performances from our nominees and winners, past, present and (maybe) future.
Already confirmed to appear is one of the area’s best-known amateur dramatics groups, the Portsmouth Players, who will return to the theatre to perform an excerpt from their forthcoming production of Grease.
Joining them on stage throughout the evening is The News Instant Star winner and Guide Award nominee, singer and songwriter Jerry Williams.
And all the action is happening in front of an audience of nominees, industry professionals and News readers. The night is going to be jam-packed full of entertainment and gripping announcements, with acts appearing between awards presentations.
But you don’t have to be a nominee or a performer to go along. Anyone can get a seat to watch the ceremony unfold.
