Bestival have today announced the return of Back To The Phuture as the Thursday night entertainment for campers.
This electro fest curated by DJ Mark Jones will open the festival in Robin Hill Country Park in Newport, Isle of Wight, on September 8.
Mixing up appearances from electro pop legends with cutting edge synth-lords, this year’s line up showcases a breadth of young talent, from the nu-disco of Hercules & Love Affair and the inspired electro soul of Santigold to the sythnfluences of Mirrors.
The legends come thick and fast with electro pop duo Blancmange performing their timeless pop classics Living On The Ceiling, Blind Vision and Don’t Tell Me.
Also appearing are OneTwo, a bonafide supergroup featuring the dulcet tones of Propaganda’s Claudia Brucken and OMD’s musical genius Paul Humphreys tackling the synths.
Possibly the most exciting addition, is the last-minute signing of Richard X, this week.
The king of the mash-up bootleg phenomenon and the fella behind Sugababes’ Freak Like Me, Liberty X’s Being Nobody and Kelis’ Finest Dreams, will be making a rare appearance as part of Back To The Phuture.
Most recently, he produced Will Young’s exciting new album, Echoes, due out next month. And his DJ set should be a highlight of the first night of the festival.
Also on hand with DJ sets to ensure you’ll be dancing throughout the evening, will be electro godfather Arthur Baker and curator Mark Jones.
‘After last year’s amazing, amazing opening I’m really very excited and proud to be linking the old skool with the nu skool and going Back To The Phuture at Bestival once again,’ says Mark.
Tickets (£85 to £170) are still available but selling fast.
