Staff from popular Southsea pub the King Street Tavern took to the stage accompanied by enthusiastic applause from the whole audience.
The nine-strong team headed by landlord Sam Foot were excited and surprised to have won their second Guide Award.
Sam Foot said: ‘ It feels strange to have won because we won in 2008 and I didn’t think you could win more than once. It’s a bit nerve-wracking.
‘I couldn’t picture winning for a third time.
‘It’s amazing that the public voted for us because we are only a small pub.
‘It’s the atmosphere that people like and the personal touch that you don’t get in big brand bars.’
He added: ‘We’ve got a very loyal customer base.
‘It’s important that people support their local.
‘It’s been tough, not an easy year but the team have brought us through.
‘Winning for the second time is definitely down to the team. They all care about their jobs.
‘When I first started working in pubs it wasn’t to win awards, it was just for the enjoyment of the business.
‘The drinks are on me I guess!’
