Hacienda Classical at Brighton Racecourse: ‘It smacks you between the eyes from the opening bar’

The pyrotechnically enthusiastic John Barrowman set the stage alight with song, dance, and camp humour to the appreciation of his adoring fans.

Screams of delight ricocheted around the walls of a 'sell out' Guildhall as Mr Barrowman treated us to numerous risque 'naughty but nice' anecdotes of his life.

Sartorially sparkly in sequin edged suits, John with his four dancers, danced and sang to an eclectic mix of disco and show songs. His tribute to everything 'drag', singing 'I feel like a woman', brought the house down.

Throughout the high energy show, on a vast video screen behind the band, we got to 'see' young John, his boyfriend, sister, nieces and nephews, and his mum and dad. Schmaltzy? Yes. But there was so much 'lurve' flowing the audience lapped it up. John Barrowman is Mr Showbiz.
