PORTSMOUTH’S poet laureate has given a special performance to celebrate World Book Day.

Yesterday 21-year-old KeliAnne B gave a reading of four poems in the city’s central library – including her first live performance of What I Like Reading, her new commission to mark the event.

Portsmouth bookworms were also able to borrow a mystery book in a bag which had been recommended by library staff.

She said: ‘It was a wonderful event. I enjoyed the readings a lot and stayed for a while to talk to people afterwards.’

KeliAnne B also featured in Portsmouth Reads, a short film celebrating the city’s love of reading which was shown on the BBC Big Screen in Guildhall Square throughout World Book Day.

It will be shown again during World Book Night tomorrow.
