Lee Nelson and Joe Wilkinson took to the stage at the Portsmouth Guildhall in a comedy double header to conclude a week-long celebration of fundraising events for the New Theatre Royal.

Both comedians are no strangers to the circuit and are regulars on TV, but it was Nelson who had the crowd laughing the loudest.

The cheeky chap, real name Simon Brodkin, demonstrated his quick wit and comic timing with some fantastic audience interaction. The set concluded with a Mr and Mrs-style competition in which he determined the ‘happiest couple in Portsmouth’ through a series of cringe-worthy, crotch-grabbing antics and humiliating yet hilarious questions for the participants that had been selected from the crowd.

Joe Wilkinson had flashes of brilliance, including his experience on the Megabus and a hilarious anecdote in which he received a birthday lap dance. However, his performance lacked the energy and interaction that Nelson managed.
