COMIC Russell Kane has been announced as the new headliner for the Saturday night of the Southsea Comedy Festival after Rich Hall had to withdraw.

Russell, pictured right, who has won the prestigious Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award and the Barry Award, will take over at the Live in the Big Top show on Saturday, August 2.

He joins Adam Hills and Marcus Brigstocke as well as fast-rising star and outspoken Canadian, Dana Alexander. Rob Beckett will be the compere.

Surrealist superstar Eddie Izzard is headlining on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1 at the first-ever comedy festival to be held on Southsea Common.

The shows are running alongside the Southsea Show.
