THIS charming picture of a man feeding the swans at Walpole Park has won a photo competition aiming to find ‘What Gosport means to you.’
The competition was run by Gosport Discovery Centre to complement the Lawrence Collection exhibition – an archive of Gosport photos going back a century, being shown at Gosport Gallery. The organisers received about 20 images, ranging from the ferry to the market and sailing boats.
But it was Belinda Colby’s photo that took the prize of a digital photo frame.
Mrs Colby, 72, from Palmerston Way in Alverstoke, said: ‘I went to see the exhibition and saw the poster advertising the competition. Photography is a hobby of mine and I can never resist a competition, so I went around taking some pictures.
‘I was lucky to catch that man there feeding the swans on such a nice sunny day. I don’t know him, but I gather he’s a regular – the swans all knew him and came flocking over as soon as he appeared.’
