THE New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth is about to enter an exciting chapter in its long and illustrious life – and you could be part of it.

We’re asking readers to nominate people who deserve to have their name on a plaque on a seat in the new auditorium of this historic Victorian theatre.

It could be a friend or relative who loves theatre, or maybe somebody who has shown great bravery in overcoming illness or adversity, or someone who has done selfless work in the community and deserves to be honoured.

This exclusive offer is part of the theatre’s new Take A Seat campaign, which gives residents, businesses, organisations and theatre fans the opportunity to sponsor a seat for £215.

Seats will display each sponsor’s name on a plaque for the life of the seat.

The theatre has enjoyed more than 150 years as a cultural landmark in the heart of the city and is set to reopen in the autumn following a £4.5m rebuild and refurbishment programme.

This includes a creative learning centre dedicated to Oscar-winning writer and director Anthony Minghella.

To nominate someone for a free named plaque on a seat of their choice, please e-mail features@thenews.co.uk with the name of the nominee and an explanation of why they deserve this honour.

Closing date for entries is midnight on June 11. For more about the Take A Seat campaign, go to newtheatreroyal.com/support-us/take-a-seat/
