A Beethoven taster and a feast of Brahms make up the programme for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s first Portsmouth Guildhall concert of 2012.

Beethoven’s Egmont overture will be followed by two major Brahms works - his massive second piano concerto and sunny second symphony.

Soloist in the concerto will be John Lill who is widely recognised as the outstanding British pianist of the senior generation and a particular master of the classical and romantic Germanic repertoire. Thomas Dausgaard from Denmark conducts.

The concert is on Thursday, January 12 (7.30pm). Tickets £23 to £13, concessions available: (023) 9282 4355 or portsmouthguildhall.co.uk.
