This year’s cast of the Kings Theatre pantomime came together – oh yes they did! – for the launch of Aladdin.
Blue boyband member Antony Costa is headlining the cast and will be putting his stage skills to the test as he plays Aladdin at the Southsea theatre.
He will be joined by former Hollyoaks actor Marcus Patrick, from Gosport, who will play the Genie of the Ring and X Factor contestant Jade Ellis as the Genie of the Lamp.
Antony says: ‘I am really excited to have the chance to feature in a pantomime at the Kings Theatre as it is a brilliant place and the stage is great.
‘I have played Aladdin before and it is a production that I really enjoy performing in.
‘I enjoy being able to put my own spin on how I think Aladdin should be played and I hope the audience enjoys it.
‘Pantomimes are such a brilliant thing to be a part of they are full of great fun and family entertainment.’
Londoner Jade, who is known for her vocal ability on The X Factor, made her pantomime debut last year as a fairy in Jack and the Beanstalk.
She says: ‘I am honoured to have the opportunity to perform in Aladdin at the Kings.
‘I experienced my last pantomime last year and absolutely loved it and I jumped at the chance to be in another.
‘I have a young girl and she loves going to the theatre to watch pantomimes and it’s a great experience for families.’
Local lad Jack Edwards will be playing Abanazar and is no stranger to the stage.
‘This is my twelfth panto now and it’s great that I can come back to the place I grew up and the theatre I went to as a child.
‘Theatre is something I really enjoy I love the freedom you have with it.’
Also appearing in the festive show is pantomime dame favourite Phil Randall, local actor Christopher Marlowe and stand-up comedian Aiden J Harvey.
Aladdin runs from December 9 until January 4, 2015.
