An Italian Straw Hat, a French farce which inspired the creation of hit TV series Fawlty Towers, is the summer offering by Rogues & Vagabonds theatre company.

It will be staged at The Westbourne Club in Westbourne for four performances from Thursday 14 – Saturday 16 May.

Set in Paris in the 1890s, the plot centres on a lady trying to protect her modesty when a horse eats her hat while she’s having an illicit affair. Desperate not to be found out she demands that the horses owner, Fardinand, buys her a new hat but he is enroute to his own wedding.

Comic misunderstandings and hilarious chases ensue in this larger than life farce.
