Two bands will make simultaneous journeys down a similar memory lane at Southsea and Fareham next Thursday.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra, led by Ray McVay, will perform a programme called Hits From The Blitz at the Kings, Southsea.

And the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, who are led by Chris Dean and have been voted Best Band in the Land for a 12th time, will strike up at Ferneham Hall, Fareham.

Chris, who lives at Port Solent with his wife, band singer Angie Mills, calls his programme On The Beat.

It features the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and others.

Both shows are on Thursday at 7.30pm.
