SCHOOL pupils learnt how to fly for an ambitious production of Peter Pan at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.

Mayville High School drafted in a professional flight company to train eight of its children to support them as they took to the air over the audience.

The performance saw more than 300 pupils from years one to nine take to the stage.

Lewis Heath, 13,who shared the lead role of Peter Pan in the show, said: ‘I’ve done bungee jumping 
and abseiling before but never
done anything like this on the stage.’

Jo Allum, head of music at Mayville and who was the show’s musical director, said: ‘It’s been a big undertaking but that makes it all the more exciting.

‘It’s been lovely involving all those who are not used to performing and watch them grow in confidence.’
