A lovable nun will fall in love on Hayling Island next week as Hayling Musical Society performs The Sound of Music from Tuesday until Saturday.
The Rogers and Hammerstein musical follows Maria, who finds romance with the widowed Captain Von Trapp after becoming a governess to his seven resentful children.
Based on a true story, the show was made into a film in 1965 starring Julie Andrews, and Connie Fisher won the chance to play the role of Maria at the London Palladium in 2006.
With songs including Doh Ray Mi, The Hills Are Alive, So Long Farewell and Eidelweiss, Maria teaches the children to sing and brings joy and happiness back to the house, and to the captain.
But Von Trapp is drafted into the German Navy, with Europe on the brink of the Second World War.
Tickets: £8 to £10, and £32 for a family of two adults and two children, from Hayling Community Centre on (023) 9246 7545 or go to haylingmusical.com.
