Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë is one of the enduring classics of English literature.

The Blue Orange Theatre will bring the tale to life at the Groundlings in Portsea.

Jane Eyre is a tale of a young woman’s courageous fight through injustice and hardship.

The 1847 novel features one of the classic love pairings in the history of English literature – Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester.

Jane’s life begins with physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her aunt.

At school, Jane’s spiritual and moral sensibilities flourish despite continued oppression.

Eventually, Jane is employed as a governess at Thornfield Hall where she falls in love with Edward Rochester, master of the house.

Rochester eventually proposes to Jane but the complexities of his past ensure that Jane’s struggles are far from over.

Following national tours of Steven King’s Misery, Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Jane Eyre is set to be Blue Orange’s largest tour to date with 30 performances over four months.
