With growing concern over the future of St Peter’s Theatre, Southsea, it has decided to put on two open days on November 5-6.

The days will include performances by local drama and musical societies, displays of costumes, activities and tours for visitors, and songs by Cantrelle Ladies Choir.

Built as a scaled-down version of the Kings Theatre stage, it has been announced that no bookings will be accepted after the end of 2012.

Having raised nearly £40,000 in the past 10 years to upgrade the theatre they are now fighting to stay open.

Other aspects to the open days will include refreshments, raffles, and tickets for any forthcoming shows.

The theatre has just finished its production of Honk!, a musical based on Hans Christian Anderson’s Ugly Duckling, with Pheonix Player’s The Snow Queen planned for February.

The open days on Saturday and Sunday run from 10am until 4pm at St Peter’s Theatre & Community Building, Southsea.
