Based on the 1980 movie of the same name, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, 9 To 5 follows the fortunes of three female office workers who lead the way in a battle against their lecherous boss.

The stand-out performance came from Rachel Dean as Doralee Rhodes, who shone from the moment she appeared on stage with her flawless accent. Likewise, Stuart Warner was a clear crowd favourite with his hilarious portrayal of bigoted boss Franklin Hart Jr – all the more impressive given he was the understudy for this role.

Jacqueline Willis also impressed as Violet Newstead, particularly when she took centre stage with One Of The Boys.

Other highlights included an hilarious comedy turn from Jo Aldridge as Roz with Heart To Hart and a vocal masterclass from Georgina Rose-Rust singing Get Out and Stay Out.

The ensemble featured heavily throughout and they delivered the group numbers with real attack and enthusiasm.

As often found with an opening night there were a number of sound issues but these were minor and did not detract from the overall show.

Until Saturday.
