Have your say

Back in the 1980s, inspired by skaters Torvill and Dean, I harboured a dream to become an ice-dancer.

And at the Mayflower Theatre I got pretty close to professional skaters in The Nutcracker On Ice.

The show tells the story of Maria, who brings her doll to life and is led on a wonderful adventure with the Mouse King and a Sugar Plum Fairy.

The set is stunning and the costumes lavish – you’re simply swept along into a magical winter wonderland.

The choreography is a triumph with complex high-speed leaps and acrobatics which left me breathless.

Keith Chegwin, who starred on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, has bags of enthusiasm and even does a magic trick or two, but his skating is pretty mediocre compared to the rest of the talented ensemble.

If you want to experience some truly exhilarating ice-dancing in a magnificent setting, then get your skates on.

Until Saturday.
