Marcus Patrick, former Hollyoaks actor, will appear in the Kings’ Christmas panto Aladdin as Genie of the Ring.
The Gosport born actor has done panto at the Southsea theatre before and explains that it is a place close to his heart.
Marcus says: ‘I love coming to the Kings Theatre as it is practically home for me.
‘My family all still live nearby so it’s great that I have the opportunity to visit them over the Christmas months.
‘The Kings Theatre is where I made my pantomime debut so it will always be very close to my heart.’
Marcus will be joined by other local actors Christopher Marlowe who is playing the Empress Of China and Jack Edwards as Abanazar – both of which are no strangers to the stage spotlight.
Marcus has recently featured as Billy Liar in London but insists that a pantomime at Christmas is what he particuarly enjoys.
‘Being in Billy Liar was a great experience for me but it was also very demanding.
‘I really enjoy being part of a panto at Christmas time, it is always good fun and the cast will always make the best out of any situation.
‘Panto allows me to improvise on the script and no show is ever the same. Normally the production will grow over the months and this adaptability is what I really enjoy.
‘I have two children so it is also a brilliant feeling to perform in a show they can come and watch me in.
‘My son, who is four, is really looking forward to seeing me on stage and he will probably come and see it at least three times.’
Aladdin runs from December 9 until January 4, 2015.
