The Russian State Ballet of Siberia and The Orchestra of the Russian State Ballet come to Portsmouth to perform a duo of classic ballets.
Formed in 1981, The Russian State Ballet of Siberia has become established as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies.
Swan Lake (March 7) is often described as the greatest romantic ballet of all time, which is brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score.
From Odile, the temptress in black tulle that seduces the Prince, to the spellbound purity of the swan queen Odette, the dual role is one of ballet’s most unmissable technical challenges.
Sleeping Beauty (March 8) is a classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score. Stunning choreography, sumptuous costumes and wonderful sets form the fantasy world in which the Lilac Fairy struggles against the evil Carabosse.
Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty both start at 7.30pm. Tickets: £25-£35, go to portsmouthguildhall.org.uk to book.
