Michael Morpurgo is well-known for his role in children’s literature as an author, poet, and playwright.
Now his 1977 classic, Friend Or Foe, is being performed on stage for the first time, with the UK tour arriving at the Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday evening.
Scamp Theatre is the company behind the production, with the world premiere taking place not long after similar stage adaptions of his other stories; War Horse, Farm Boy, and Private Peaceful.
The prize-winning author says: ‘I’m thrilled to bits. I just think the quality of what Scamp do is amazing.’
Adapted by Daniel Buckroyd, Friend Or Foe is a tale of friendship in the Second World War, as two boys are evacuated from London. One night, peacefully living in the countryside, a German plane crashes.
The production is aimed at over eight-year-olds, with adults welcome.
n Tickets cost £7.50 to £16 from the Theatre Royal Winchester on (01962) 840440 or go to theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk.
