HE may have boldly claimed that Alan Sugar ‘knows who he is now’ but Ricky Martin remains in The Apprentice only by the skin of his teeth.

The Stubbington recruitment consultant was a project manager in tonight’s episode which saw the two teams devising new fitness regimes to franchise out to gyms.

Ricky’s team – Sterling – secured only £7,970 of orders as opposed to their rival Phoenix’s £12,810.

Sterling devised a concept called Beat Battle, a cross between martial arts and dance, but their promotional video let them down.

As manager, Ricky had to appear in the board room in front of Lord Sugar and chose colleagues Duane Bryan and Laura Hogg to also be at risk of being fired.

Duane directed the video and Laura danced in it.

Duane defended Laura and told Lord Sugar that Ricky should be shown the door, saying: ‘He has hidden away for the first few weeks and he has not done anything.’

But Ricky was saved after a testimony from Lord Sugar’s right-hand man Nick Hewer who said: ‘The unanimous reaction from the health clubs about Ricky’s pitch was that it was good.’

Duane was eventually fired by Lord Sugar.
