Talented Drayton teenager’s greeting cards business success
Havant and South Downs College student Morgan Rees, 17, launched her Floral Crafts business as an online enterprise but is now also selling her cards in local shops.
Unable to attend college due to the recent lockdown, talented Morgan used the time to create her watercolour designs.

‘I believe it’s then when my love for art started. During lockdown I had more time to myself and so I started up painting again which I had fallen out of love with when I was studying for my GCSE s. During this time Floral Crafts was born.’
The A-level fine art student comes up with her own card designs which she then scans and prints onto her luxury cards. Particular specialities include pet portraits, floral prints and personalised designs to mark landmark occasions.
‘The aim for my business is to design and create beautiful floral cards and gifts for all occasions. Something personal and different from the mass created ones in the supermarkets.’

She said: ‘When I finish college, I would like to go to university to study graphics or architecture and I hope to spend more time focusing on my business so that I can expand and offer more products.
‘Studying fine art has helped me to develop my skills and also studying business A-level has helped me to learn and understand what advertising strategies I can use for my audience, as well as how to properly run it.’
Fine art course manager Mark Kellett added: ‘Morgan joined the course in September with low confidence as she didn't have a GCSE in art. Since then, she has worked very hard to develop her skills during our workshops and projects.
