Teach Portsmouth Awards launch postponed due to ongoing challenges of Covid
Portsmouth City Council had hoped to launch the official nominations process this Monday on World Teacher Day.
They also planned to unveil the Star Teacher of the Year trophy in a ceremony at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Hide AdBut education chiefs have now decided to postpone the launch to ‘allow schools time to settle in and focus on children returning to school and to ensure we get the best possible nominations’.
Cabinet member for education, Cllr Suzy Horton, said: ‘In some ways the awards are needed more than ever, but we have made the decision to postpone nominations.
‘We felt that at the beginning of term, schools have enough to deal with in implementing the new Covid guidelines.
‘The awards will go ahead but we want to give schools more time to submit nominations at what is a pressurised time.’

Hide AdWhile no date has been set for the relaunch the Council have confirmed, the actual awards ceremony is still scheduled to go ahead on March 12, 2021.
The annual awards night was originally due to take place this month but also had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
