Teachers learn how to keep students healthy at conference
Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell met with teaching staff throughout Hampshire to share her expertise on helping children be healthy.
She was joined by television medic Dr Dawn Harper, from the Channel 4 series Embarrassing Bodies, and Ali Oliver, chief executive of the Youth Sport Trust.

Hide AdThe Hampshire Schools’ Health and Wellbeing Conference was organised by Hampshire County Council’s Outdoor Education, PE and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Service.
Councillor Peter Edgar, executive member for education at the council, said: ‘Good health and fitness is absolutely critical to young people’s wellbeing, and contributes significantly to their ability to learn.
‘The time they spend at school offers a prime opportunity to influence their lifestyle choices, and their understanding of healthy living.
‘Through events such as this fantastic conference, we aim to support schools in helping children make the right choices, and develop positive behaviours.

Sally Gunnell, a former track athlete, compered the event which included a number of workshops focusing on different aspects of health and physical activity, as well as displays and information from relevant organisations.
