Charity Acts of Kindness took over the supply chains of The Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank at the end of March and has now delivered more than 1,000 food parcels across the area.
The service has seen a ‘60/40’ split between older people and families needing support, according to founder Kerry Snuggs.

‘We have received a few messages from people concerned about an older person and found that they have not eaten for a couple of days.’
Sherry Garrett, 67, lives alone and needs to self-isolate due her diabetes – so is dependent on services like Acts of Kindness.

Anyone looking to support the work through a donation are encouraged to provide UHT milk or toys and craft activities for children, which are in short supply according to Kerry.
She said: ‘We want people to know they are not alone – the help is out there, and they don't need to struggle on alone.’
The service is planning a ‘special treat’ for 300 older people in the community and care homes to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday May 8.
