Portsmouth Conservatives have taken to social media to deny rumours that police have been pulling over motorists trying to leave the city.
A post on Facebook reads: ‘Please be aware that there are some political activists around the Paulsgrove area currently misleading residents and scaring them by insinuating/alluding the Police have set up 'Tier Border' checks. This is untrue.
‘The Police do have a series of 'drink driving' and mobile 'speed' spot checkpoints across the area which is a normal operation at this time of year. One of those was on Southampton Road near the trading estate we understand. But it was not a Tier border check. It's simply untrue.
