Diabetes bus comes to town...
The KnowYourRisk roadshow came to Portsmouth yesterday, offering help and advice from Diabetes UK.
Events assistant Charlie Mason said: ‘We were really busy. People aren’t necessarily aware of the risk factors so it’s important to get them checked. A whole host of things can put you at risk – age, gender, ethnicity, height, weight and BMI.

Jill Steaton, Diabetes UK’s regional head in the south east, said: ‘In Portsmouth alone 9,901 people are living with Type 2 diabetes.
‘Left untreated, diabetes can cause devastating complications such as amputation, blindness, kidney failure and stroke.’
Mrs Steaton said people can check their risk with a GP at any time to prevent diabetes developing.
