Family tell of sadness after missing man's body is found near to Loch Ness
The family of Jason Gates said they feel a mixture of ‘sadness and relief’ that the 39-year-old can now be laid to rest.
Mr Gates was reported missing after his pet dog was found on farmland close to Drumnadrochit, near Loch Ness, six weeks ago.

Hide AdPolice Scotland then traced his vehicle and found it abandoned nearby.
A huge search and rescue operation was launched.
Mr Gates’ father Malcolm said: ‘We would like to thank the police and everyone who searched for Jason, refusing to give up.
‘We’re pleased the search has come to a conclusion and we can get closure.
‘There is sadness but also relief that he has been found.
‘The police are 100 per cent sure it’s him.
‘We will probably go up to Scotland ourselves this week.’
Mr Gates said police have told him it is likely his son died of hypothermia.

Hide AdHe added: ‘From what they say it’s definitely hypothermia. Still, we will have to wait for the coroner’s report.’
Mr Gates’ body was found in the Drumnadrochit area yesterday afternoon, close to Loch Ness.
It is the area search and rescue teams have been combing the past six weeks.
Mr Gates was reported missing after his pet dog was found having attacked three sheep on farmland close to Drumnadrochit on March 17.

Hide AdIn a statement yesterday Highlands and Islands Police said: ‘As part of the ongoing search effort for missing man Jason Gates, police officers discovered a man’s body in the Drumnadrochit area this afternoon.
‘Formal identification is taking place and Mr Gates’ family have been informed.
‘Members of the public and the media are thanked for their assistance with the search.’
