Fareham man jailed for 26 weeks after spitting at PC hoping he would get Covid-19

Kevin Chandler, 42, assaulted the officer on October 22 last year after being arrested in Wallington Way in Fareham.
At the the police investigation centre in Portsmouth he spat at an officer ‘with the intention for the officer to contract coronavirus’. The spit landed on the PC’s body armour.

Hide AdDeputy district judge Kevin Hill jailed Chandler, of East Street, Fareham, for 26 weeks.
Chandler admitted resisting an officer in Wallington Way, and assaulting an emergency worker.
It comes as Hampshire Police Federation chair Zoe Wakefield, who represents officers, hit out again at the lack of vaccinations for police.
