The spokesman said: ‘The officer has since been discharged and is recovering at home with his family.’
It was ‘pure chance’ that the officer did not sustain more serious injuries, according to Zoe Wakefield, chairwoman of Hampshire Police Federation.
She said: ‘We are supporting the officer and his family, as well as other colleagues involved in this horrific incident.
