Officer who battled man on motorway up for award
PC Vikki Sharpe’s nomination comes after she stopped a car for erratic driving on June 15, 2014.
The driver, on the M3, became hostile after PC Sharpe, of Whitchurch police, requested a breath test.

She tried to handcuff him to the steering wheel but managed only one wrist and the driver rammed her car as PC Sharpe held on to his vehicle. He was last year jailed at Winchester Crown Court and the nomination was delayed until the case had finished.
PC Sharpe, who spent three months off work badly injured, said: ‘I was on high doses of pain relief for my broken hand, damage to my ribs, pain to my back and shoulder and sleeping tablets.’
She will attend a ceremony in July with a reception in Downing Street before the awards. Hampshire Police Federation wished her luck.
