Residents tell of their horror as teen dies in Portsmouth incident
Police have cordoned off Oldbury House, in Sackville Street, while forensic officers in white overalls comb the area for clues to the 18-year-old’s death.
It comes after the man was found with ‘significant injuries’ at the flat complex in Southsea at 2.18am today.

Hide AdNow residents living nearby have told of their shock, with some describing the latest incident as ‘frightening’.
Kath Taylor, 64, has lived opposite Oldbury House for 16 years, and said there had been a surge of serious violent crime in the area in recent weeks.
She said: ‘A few weeks ago a man got stabbed and one almost got kidnapped.
‘It’s frightening. That doesn’t usually happen around here. Only lately have things got worse.’

Hide AdSpeaking of today’s incident, she added: ‘It is a shock. It is very sad.’
One man, who asked not to be named, said he was growing increasingly concerned for his safety.
The 30-year-old said: ‘It’s pretty shocking. I had no idea about the incident last night. It is concerning.’
A number of police cars remain parked outside the flats, with two officers standing guard to the entrance of the building.

Hide AdSurrounding the property is a cordon of blue and white police tape.
Marcus White, who lives in nearby Yorke Street, was walking past the crime scene.
The 24-year-old builder said: ‘It’s sickening to think this sort of thing can happen on your doorstep.’
As previously reported, the 18-year-old victim was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, with what police describe as ‘significant injuries’. He died later in the morning.

Hide AdPolice have not released any information about the man’s identity. Nor has the force announced any arrests.
A spokesman confirmed officers were investigating the death.
As part of the probe, police have been carrying out door-to-door inquires and forensic operations in Liverpool Road, Manchester Road, Guildford Road and Sandringham Road.
Officers believe the victim may have been assaulted earlier in the evening and are now appealing for witnesses.

Hide Ad‘We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed anything suspicious,’ a spokesman said.
Witnesses or those with information are being urged to contact police on 101, quoting Operation Lighter.
