Sex offender, 41, admits breaching notification requirements - after police stations he went to were closed

Christopher Elliott, 41, of Laburnum Road, Waterlooville, was handed a prison sentence in 2001 and told to sign the sex offenders’ register.
But Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court heard he moved home and should have registered with police by November 7 last year. He registered on November 9.

Hide AdThe court heard Elliott went to Havant station, which was closed. He then went to Waterlooville station, which was closed.
When he went back to Havant a sign said go to the Eastern Police Investigation Centre in Copnor.
But when he went there he was too embarrassed as the waiting area at reception was full, and returned another day – which was too late.
District judge Gary Lucie ordered Elliott, who admitted breaching notification requirements, to pay £197 in costs and charges.
