Former Royal Navy sailor is visiting Type 42 destroyer cities on charity bike ride to Portsmouth
Adrian Netherwood, 59, set off from Rosyth in Scotland on Saturday, June 29, pedalling 560 miles in support of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Combat Stress.
Mr Netherwood, who served on board HMS HMS Ashanti, Newcastle and Conqueror – among others – is expected to reach his finishing line in Portsmouth this Saturday.

Hide AdA member of the Type 42 Association, Mr Netherwood said: ‘The Type 42 ships were based out of Rosyth and Portsmouth which is why I had the idea to cycle down a week ahead of the Type 42 Association 2019 reunion.
‘The idea is to visit as many cities that gave their names to a Type 42 destroyer using the most direct route to Portsmouth.’
