Exclusion zone set up by police after Second World War shell is found on Gosport shoreline
Hardway resident Daniel Hutton, 36, found the shell in the shingle next to Priory Road earlier this evening, while waiting for his wife to return home.
After phoning the police, an exclusion zone was set up for a bomb disposal unit to deal with the ordnance.

‘I spotted this cylindrical thing on the shingle – as soon as I took a closer look I knew it was a bomb.
‘It was about two inches but didn’t have a case, so I think it may have already been fired.
‘I suppose it’s not unexpected given Gosport’s military history, but it still came as a bit of a surprise.’
