The pyrotechnic display was organised to welcome the new Brittany Ferries vessel Galicia to the city for the first time.
Kicking off at 7pm, the fireworks lasted for around five minutes yesterday.
It took place in honour of the Galicia, which is named after the region of Spain she will take passengers to.
The ship made her first visit to Portsmouth in October, but is now officially part of the fleet.
