Officers were alerted to a ‘smell of smoke’ coming from a property near Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham at 11.31am.
Initially, the caller feared a fire had ignited at the hospital.

Hide AdThe concern led to the scrambling of crews from Cosham, Southsea, Waterlooville and Havant.
However, a spokesman from Cosham said the call was a ‘false alarm’ and that officers were stood down minutes after arriving at the scene.
