Councillors reject plans for parish council in Fareham
Fareham Borough Council held a one-hour debate ahead of the vote during a full council meeting in which councillors backed the recommendation from officers.
The meeting was the culmination of years of work from Funtley Village Society, which secured a Community Governance Review on the topic last year as it aimed to secure a parish council for the village to the north of Fareham.

A statement from Funtley Village Society read: ‘This is hugely disappointing and, we feel, undemocratic.
‘A parish council would have helped community cohesion, as Funtley is a distinctive and recognisable community with its own sense of identity.’
