AN ELDERLY horse stuck in a ditch after a fall was given a leg up to safety.
Firefighters from Fareham joined forces with their New Forest counterparts to rescue the stricken 33-year-old stallion that was marooned near Bury Lodge on Fareham Road, Hambledon, on Friday evening.
But the rescue had a happy ending after the 600 kilo horse was helped up using animal rescue techniques before being set free.
