Havant cultural and community groups to receive grant of £170,425
The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre, Making Space, the Horndean Community and Wecock Community associations, and the Springwood Community Partnership will receive grants totalling £170,425 between them.
Councillor Andrew Gibson, the executive member for culture, recreation and countryside, approved the grants as part of two annual programmes – the Culture and Recreation Investment Fund and the Community Investment Fund.

Hide AdCllr Gibson said: ‘These grants make a big difference to Hampshire’s much-valued cultural, recreational and community groups.
‘Many people of all ages and walks of life enjoy the activities and events on offer at these venues.
‘The grants support groups which play a vital role in local life, often in deprived areas.
‘This complements our work supporting the wider economic, cultural and social wellbeing for residents.’

Hide AdAcross Hampshire, 16 venues and six community groups will benefit from a total of £637,245.
The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre, which offers heritage experiences to more than 160,000 visitors and a further 10,000 through community outreach, will receive £107,610.
Sophie Fullerlove, the centre’s director, said: ‘The Spring is very grateful that the county council continues to support cultural organisations and services.
‘Engaging in cultural activities has proven health benefits and by supporting organisations the council are helping to enhance the lives of residents.

Leigh Park-based craft centre Making Space will receive £33,320, the Wecock Community Association £12,360, the Springwood Community Partnership £9,345, and the Horndean Community Association £7,700.
Projects and people of all ages will benefit from the funding, including the elderly, low-income families, and those isolated or vulnerable.
