Portsmouth South MP Stephen Morgan demands action from Southern Water after wastewater dumped into Langstone Harbour
MP Stephen Morgan has written to Southern Water’s chief executive Ian McAuley to raises ongoing concerns that diluted sewage is being released into the scenic waterway.
Issues with capacity at the nearby Budds Farm treatment facility means the area has been hit by a series of ‘combined sewer overflows’, with the overflowing sewage presenting health and environmental risks.

Earlier this year, The News reported on residents and water sports enthusiasts across the area blaming the sewage overflows for a range of illnesses.
In his letter, Mr Morgan urges Southern Water to set out its plans to address treatment capacity, tackle excessive discharges, and calls for an urgent meeting to discuss the issue further.
Stephen Morgan said: ‘I remain deeply concerned by the frequency and volume of sewage discharges into Langstone Harbour, which pose an unacceptable health risk.
