Heavy rain to bring 'difficult driving conditions' to Portsmouth as Met Office issues weather warning

The Met Office has put a yellow alert, which means disruption is possible, in place for between 11-30am to 7pm for today.
It has been issued for Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.

Hide AdA yellow thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the city on Friday between 11am and 8pm, with thunder showers forecast for the morning and late afternoon.
On its website the Met Office says: ‘Heavy rain leading to difficult driving conditions and possible disruption to transport.
‘Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
‘Bus and train services may be affected, with journey times taking longer.
‘Flooding of one or two homes and businesses is possible.’

Hide AdThe heavy rain could bring up to 30 or 40 mm in five or six hours in a few areas, the forecasting service said.
This downpour could be enough to cause a lot of surface water and some flooding on roads.
Conditions are then expected to dry up later in the day.
