A LIGHTNING strike has caused a fire to rip through a workshop in a residential street in Hayling Island.
Fire crews from stations on the island and Havant were mobilised at 8.15am this morning to Wheatlands Avenue.
It follows the Met Office placing Portsmouth under a yellow alert for thunderstorms across the weekend and today.

Hide AdA spokesman from Hampshire Fire And Rescue Service said: ‘There was a fire involving a workshop at the rear of a property, and it was extinguished using a hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus.
‘The fire was caused by a lightning strike and the stop message came in at 9.22am.’
No one was injured in the incident.
