THIS WEEK IN 1970: Fancy's quarantine ends '“ with a wag
Now happiness is definitely a wet nose for Chris Haggar.
It had been a year since Chris was parted from her three-year-old champion Shetland sheepdog, Fancy. They were separated when Chris and her husband, Norman, returned from Germany and Fancy went into quarantine.Â
Months passed and with them came a tightening up in the quarantine regulations, which ruled that dogs must remain in kennels for eight months instead of six. It was increased to 12 months after a rabies scare.
'˜We were really upset,' said Norman, '˜the regulations are too strict and unnecessary.'
But those long months of waiting were forgotten when Nancy returned home. Â
