Close friend Jay Ricketts, 44, said: ‘He’s a nice guy. He’d do anything for anyone and that’s reflected in the volume of donations.
‘Even people who don’t know him have said it’s horrendous and clearly he’s going to need help.’
Shepherds Crook landlord Steve Hudson said he’s holding the fundraiser in a bid to help both Mr Bache and his family’s travelling expenses.

‘The mortgage and bills have still got to be paid and family have got expenses to get out there.’
He added: ‘If they can’t get here then hopefully they will go to the Just Giving page and donate.’
Colin Major, 47, has been friends with Mr Bache since the injured man was 13. He said Mr Bache helped him when his daughter Liz, 13, died from meningitis.
‘It was horrendous it was allowed to happen, he’s just a normal Pompey bloke,’ Colin said.
