Blossoming Cameron McGeehan believes he's nearing Portsmouth best

Pompey’s new midfielder believes his displays are improving with every appearance since his Barnsley arrival.
McGeehan was restored to the Blues side in place of Ben Close for Saturday’s 2-0 success over promotion rivals Sunderland.

Hide AdIt represented a fourth start since arriving at Fratton Park last month eager for regular football.
He had fallen out of favour at Oakwell, with 27 minutes of first-team action in the two months before relocating to the south coast for the remainder of the season.
Steadily, though, the match fitness is returning, as demonstrated by another heartening performance at the weekend.
McGeehan visibly grew as the match progressed as Kenny Jackett’s men put in a strong display to make it nine successive victories.

Hide AdAnd the 24-year-old believes his game is benefiting with every Pompey outing.
McGeehan said: ‘It was a ferocious match, especially the first half, it was tough, there was a lot of competition in there.
‘I’m still finding my feet a little bit, but will start to get stronger and stronger as these games go on.
‘I’m sort of right back to my best and feel I am getting there.

Hide Ad‘It has been four games now. Obviously I sat out the Barnsley match and the lads did well, so it was nice to step back in for a big game like Sunderland and get a positive result.
‘I feel fitter and fitter with each game, feeling stronger and beginning to know how we play.
‘It’s important for me to find my fitness as quickly as possible – then I can kick on.’
Christian Burgess and James Bolton were the scorers in Saturday’s 2-0 triumph over Sunderland.

Hide AdOnce the Blues broke the deadlock on 25 minutes they dominated proceedings, putting in another impressive team display for a result which would have been more emphatic if not for keeper Jon McLaughlin.
And McGeehan believes the midfield contribution was crucial.
He added: ‘We’ve got a good midfield to play in and on Saturday got a foothold in the game.
‘We did that well – and deserved to get the victory.’
