Former Portsmouth, Arsenal and Tottenham defender among favourites to take charge of League One rivals
The struggling Cobblers departed with Keith Curle earlier this week.
After Curle guided Northampton to promotion via the play-offs last season, they sit second bottom of League One following a 1-0 loss to relegation rivals Wigan on Tuesday.

Hide AdThe candidate who succeeds Curle will be tasked with ensuring the Sixfields outfit retain their third-tier status.
And Campbell is one of the frontrunners to land the job if the current odds are anything to go by.
The centre-back, who skippered Pompey to FA Cup glory in 2008, is currently the 4/1 second favourite with Sky Bet.
Campbell, 46, has been out of work since June. The former England international left Southend after they were relegated from League One last term following the season’s curtailment amid the coronavirus crisis.

Hide AdDuring his spell at Roots Hall, he won only three of his 20 league games in charge.
However, Campbell did guide Macclesfield to League Two survival against all odds in his first managerial job.
During the 2018-19 season, he oversaw eight wins and 12 draws in 30 games to ensure the Silkmen stayed up on the final day.
He left shortly after the start of the following campaign.
